Leo Schumann's research is focused on why some people persevere through adversity while others give up. A social psychologist by training, he is focused on data-driven strategies to improve student retention, persistence and graduation. He partners with faculty, staff and students to design and study interventions that foster belonging, motivation and resilience. 

Deborah Rogers is the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's first Director of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Accessibility (IDEA). In this newly formed senior level position, Rogers, a Pittsburgh native, is responsible for the development, implementation and management of strategies to align library services, programs, practices and policies with the 127-year institution’s stated mission, values and IDEA principles. In addition, she collaborates with library departments to improve system-wide efforts in staff recruiting and retention, marketing campaigns and public service programs.
